Homestay Student Agreement
It is very important that all students who live with host families understand and follow some very important rules. We ask that you agree to the following rules before we place you with an American host family.
You agree to:
Make yourself a member of the family and participate in family activities.
Keep your room and bathroom clean and undamaged.
Treat members of you host family including children, the parents and pets with the same respect you would give your own family.
You understand that most American families have pets that live indoors, including dogs.
You understand that your host family might live up to 15 kilometers from the university, but they will drive you to school in the morning and home in the evening.
Follow your family's rules, such as rules on cleaning, smoking, alcohol and profanity.
Give two weeks notice to your family and Student Services Coordinator if you plan to move.
Pay your host family the homestay fee each month beginning the day you arrive.
Notify your host family if you will not come home at night or plan to be gone more than one day. you will provide a working phone number so your family can call you if you are gone overnight.
Make every effort to learn about and adjust to American culture, including food, schedules and customs.
Participate in family activites and spend time with your family during evenings and on weekends.
Report any problems or concerns with your host family to the Student Services Coordinator if you have any problems.
